My Story

I have always enjoyed learning new ways to bring art into the world.

As a child I would draw, paint, and make things out of any medium I could get my hands on.  Being an animator for Disney was my childhood dream.  Over the years I brought my love of making things

to children I would babysit, my classrooms as a teacher, and eventually to my own children.  I am still creating to this day.  I have ventured into everything from drawing and painting, to woodburning, sculpting with clay, redoing furniture, wall murals, and many other forms of art.

My journey as a cake artist began by making cakes for my kids and family.  My son has severe nut allergies, so I taught myself to make simple cakes for his and my daughters birthdays so that we all had

safe treats to eat and no one missed out on a birthday cake!

Years later I was introduced to fondant and the game changed forever.  I am a self taught cake artist so to me the limits were endless because

I never learned otherwise.  Realizing I could sculpt and think in 3D opened up so many doors for me.

In 2010 I found myself with a growing list of customers while also working at my children's school .  With more orders coming in than

I could handle doing at night afterwork, it just made sense to open a shop and make that my main employment.  In October 2010 Cakes by Erin opened it's doors to the public!

Over the years I have made 11 appearances on Food Network.  Competing on Food Network Challenge, bringing home a victory on Sugar Dome, Cake Wars for DC Comics, Halloween Wars Season 6, taking home a win on Winner Cake All, and The Big Bake, as well as competing on Macy's Thanksgiving Cake Spectacular, Food Network Challenge reboot, judging season 3 of Buddy vs Duff, and winning Holiday Wars!

I have been fortunate enough to also have a great list of celebrity clients including Adam Sandler, Seth McFarlane, Conan O'Brien,

Zac Brown Band, Kenny Chesney, Luke Bryan, Brett Eldredge,

Florida Georgia Line, Bret Michaels and many more.

All of the Boston sports teams have celebrated winning with a

cake I have made as well.

In my wildest dreams, I never would have imagined the fun, crazy,

and life fulfilling journey cake would take me on.

At the end of April in 2023, I will be closing my storefront and moving into a private studio to continue my cake work so I can focus on the custom designs I love.  I am also expanding my story to include other forms of art, upcoming books I am writing, creating cake related videos and so much more!
