FAQ
Here are some of the Frequently Asked Questions
about ordering a cake.
All About Me
When should I order my cake?
Wedding cakes should be ordered at least 3 to 6 months in advance. Custom fondant, 3D/sculpted, or buttercream cakes should be ordered at least 6 to 8 weeks in advance. If availability exists, I always try to accommodate any requests up to one week prior to the event. I am however, only able to produce a certain number of cakes per week, and each week can vary based on different custom designs. Therefore last minute requests cannot be guaranteed. Ordering in advance is the only way to secure your event date if availability on date requested exists.
What is your payment policy?
Payments can be made by cash or any credit card. A $100.00 non-refundable deposit is required at the time of reservation to hold your event date. For any orders placed with a quoted price of less than $100.00 payment is required in full at time of order. Your remaining balance must be paid 7 days before your booked date as final confirmation of your cake order .
What is your cancellation policy?
Any orders that are cancelled 14 days prior to your event date will be refunded. (This does not include your $100.00 non refundable deposit) For orders that are cancelled under the 14 days before the due date, your money will not be refunded for any reason or circumstance, and you will be responsible for payment in full for your order to Cakes by Erin two weeks before your original scheduled event date.
What if I have to reschedule my cake order?
Any cake order that is rescheduled within 7 days prior to your event date will have a 50% fee applied to reschedule.
This means that you will be required to pay 50% of your quoted price of your cake at the time of your reschedule.
Certain pieces for cakes are made at the beginning of the week including figures and flowers and product is ordered ahead of time so I can make your cake that week. I also book up for each weekend and it is often hard to move an order and accommodate it.
What is your delivery policy?
Delivery is offered Monday - Saturday, for a fee of $3.00 per mile round trip from my studio in Haverhill, MA. Sunday and Holiday deliveries, as those are days I am closed, are $6.00 per mile round trip. I deliver to MA, NH, ME, and RI. Delivery is only offered for orders over $400.00 and also if I have availability on the date requested. There is a minimum $30.00 delivery fee for local/Haverhill deliveries as well.
Are you a nut free?
I do not use any products in my baked goods that are processed in plants with tree nuts or peanuts. I do not use peanuts or tree nuts in any of my baked goods. However, I DO use coconut, which is a fruit and the FDA does consider it a "tree nut". Coconut is listed as a separate allergy on any packaging, product or as an ingredient. I advise you not to consume my baked goods if you do have a coconut allergy.
Do you offer cake tastings and consults?
I offer cake tastings for weddings only and as pickups, which you can order online or over the phone. You may have your choice of 3 cake, frosting, and filling flavors which should compliment each other as they will be baked as a cupcake for your tasting. If you need suggestions for your tasting, I can help provide them for you.
